NW Loop Day 7

As we have become used to there is another day's heat ahead so off early is the order of the day.

We were all prepared for the bigger climb and marvelous descent layer in the day but no one had mentioned the smaller climb and unexpected descent soon after we left.  Nothing lifts a cyclist's spirits quite like a good downhill.

We don't always go through a town and when we do there is often nothing open - one of the hazards of passing through before opening hours. Today however we rode through Pomeroy and took advantage of the chance of a coffee.  Interesting mixed business included the cafe, a gift and homewares shop and at the back a bicycle workshop.

A lot of the country we are riding through reminds me particularly of the Flinders Ranges - wheat fields, wineries, hills. The air here is as dry as dust, it is crisp with the lack of moisture and so we consume gallons of water each day.

Today was a two beer day on arrival, with a delicious wrap. The cafe didn't sell beer but the hairdresser next door did and we were allowed to go and get one to bring back with us.

Another day for Margaritas as we entered a new state - Idaho. This is the third and final state this tour will visit as when we return to Oregon we stay there. There is obviously a school of thought that perhaps we should find another reason to have them ....  we shall wait and see .....
