NW Loop Day 9 would you believe more climbing

Spectacular is the word that springs to mind today. Setting out on a smoky morning as there are wildfires around the area we warmed up on highway 95 for a few km. Turning onto Old White Bird Hill Road we started climbing. This hill was a more enjoyable ride then yesterday, mainly due to the shade on the road. Maybe because it was a little earlier in the day too.

Whatever the cause it was an enjoyable ride with extensive views along the way. Who hoo. And then there was the loooooooong downhill with switchbacks zig zagging for miles. We finished up at White Bird, sadly another town with nothing open as we rode through. No coffee. No tea. Darn it.

Off again, joining highway 95 for a run along the Salmon River. Traffic wasn't too bad this time, not so many commercial trucks but there were several loads of earthmoving equipment which seemed to be moving between fires. We remain optimistic that we will continue.

Arriving in Riggins in plenty of time to relax with happy hour before dinner everyone seemed to be keen to just cool down. And dinner, well dinner was delicious. Those who know me may be surprised to hear that I had two helpings of Patty's speciality .. Salmon barbecued with pesto and goat's cheese.

Good night's sleep ahead
